Blog 1: Neewer NW-700 condenser microphone

Picture from morguefile.

The subject of this blog post is the Neewer NW-700 condenser microphone. I had purchased this microphone a month ago after researching the company, which I hadn’t heard of previously. I was taking a leap, and hoping that the microphone would be decent for being sold at such a reasonably cheap price (aprx. $40-$50). At first, I could not get the microphone to work through my Scarlett interface while I was feeding signal into Pro Tools. I was recording but there was not any signal coming through. After a few hours, I quickly realized that this microphone requires phantom power, because it is a condenser mic. After this realization I have not had any issues or problems with this microphone. It receives signal well and has a decent frequency range as well. I think that this mic is great for beginners looking to collect different microphones or for anyone who is in need of acquiring a fully functional condenser microphone at a low cost. This mic also sports a spring-loaded boom stand and vocal pop filter with its purchase. Overall, the Neewer NW-700 condenser microphone scores well on my approval rating. For being priced well below one hundred dollars, this microphone will suffice in nearly any production situation.
